Empowering Women Entrepreneurs in the Digital Economy

The world is evolving rapidly, and with just a few clicks, we can now access markets, customers, tools, and opportunities from anywhere.

In this fast paced digital age, businesses are no longer confined to physical spaces, they thrive online. Yet, many women entrepreneurs in Tanzania and across the continent still run their businesses offline, missing out on the vast potential of the digital economy.

As someone passionate about women’s economic empowerment, I believe that bridging this gap is not just a dream it’s a necessity.

My vision is to help women transform from local vendors to digital entrepreneurs, equipping them with the skills to grow their businesses online and increase their income sustainably.

Recently, through our initiative we had a partnership project; we took a bold step toward this goal. The project was implemented in Mwanza and Dar es Salaam, targeting women entrepreneurs eager to learn and grow.

We trained 60 women in vital skills including business management, social media, digital marketing, and grant writing. Empowering them not only to manage and market their businesses more effectively, but also to access funding opportunities to expand their capital.

One of the most exciting outcomes was the business pitch session, where women presented their ideas confidently. Three women received small grants to boost their capital, while the top ten ideas were connected to other development programs.

The rest are now continuing in a mentorship program, where they receive ongoing support to sharpen their strategies and improve their businesses.

What this project showed us is simple but powerful: when women are given the right knowledge, tools, and platforms, they excel. They grow. They inspire others.

We are living in a time where digital skills are not optional but essential. Our mission at Timiza ndoto initiative now is to ensure no woman is left behind in this transformation.

By educating and supporting women entrepreneurs to embrace the digital shift, we are not only boosting their income but also shaping a more inclusive and resilient digital economy to our country.
